HOME TEAM – SCOREKEEPER RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Get batting order from each coach at least 15 minutes before game time.
2. Enter batting order for each team in official scorebook located in press box.  THE OFFICIAL SCOREBOOK SHOULD NEVER BE TAKEN OUT OF THE PRESSBOX UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
3. Record runs and outs in the official scorebook.  Strikes and balls should be recorded for Minor, Major and Junior.  All other details are at your discretion.
4. Minor, Major and Junior Leagues:  Record number of pitches pitched by each pitcher and the time the pitcher enters and leaves the game as pitcher.
5. Minor, Major and Junior Leagues:  Ask coaches to sign the official scorebook and enter their pitchers’ data in the pitching log notebook at the conclusion of the game.

VISITING TEAM – ANNOUNCER RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Get batting order with players’ first and last names, uniform numbers, name of team, and name of sponsor(s) from scorekeeper or from the teams.
2. If you are the first game, plug in the scoring console (power cord and scoreboard cord) and power on the console (switch is on the back).
3. The console will prompt you for a code.  Enter the “baseball” code and press ENTER.  The code is provided on the console.  For Fields 11 & 12 the code is “05”, and for all other fields the code is “03”.
4. Verify that the Broadcast Channel and Radio Channel on the screen match the channels on the label at the top of the scoreboard console.  If they match, press ENTER.  If they do not match, press CLEAR and enter the correct channels.
5. Enter the playing time on the clock by pressing “SET TIME” (if it does not have a “SET TIME” press “TIME/AT BAT”), enter the number of minutes and then press ENTER.  The correct times for each league are as follows:
   • ROOKIE:  60 minutes (enter 6000) or maximum of 3 innings
   • COACH PITCH:  75 minutes (enter 7500) or maximum of 4 innings
   • SOUTHERN:  85 minutes (enter 8500) or maximum of 6 innings
   • MINOR:  100 minutes (enter 9960) or maximum of 6 innings
   • MAJOR:  100 minutes (enter 9960) or maximum of 6 innings
   • JUNIOR:  110 minutes (enter 10 minutes and when this expires enter 9960) or maximum of 7 innings
6. When the umpire signals the beginning of the game, press the green “START” button.  The clock ONLY stops at the request of the umpire.
7. Run the scoreboard by recording balls and strikes (not in ROOKIE or COACH PITCH), outs, inning being played, and runs scored.  The SCORE +1 buttons add one run at a time – there is a +1 button for GUEST and HOME so be careful to press the correct one.  To correct a mistake, the SCORE -1 buttons deduct one run at a time.  OUT +1 adds one out at a time and is cleared upon entering the third out.  Clear balls and strikes by pressing the “CLEAR BALLS AND STRIKES” button.
8. Announce the first and last name of each batter as he/she approaches the plate and the name of the player that is “on deck”.  NO PLAY-BY-PLAY.
9. Announce the teams’ sponsors between innings at least THREE TIMES during the game.
10. Announce that Hoover East Ballpark is a non-smoking facility and smoking is ONLY ALLOWED IN THE PARKING LOTS.
11. Announce that NO PETS, SCOOTERS, SKATEBOARDS, BICYCLES, OR ROLLERBLADES ARE ALLOWED.
12. At the end of the game ASK FANS TO PICK UP ANY TRASH AROUND THEM.
13. IF YOU ARE THE FINAL GAME OF THE DAY, TURN OFF AND UNPLUG THE SCOREBOARD CONSOLE.

1. NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 13 ALLOWED IN PRESSBOX at any time.

2. Only TWO press box workers allowed in each press box, one for Home team and one for Away team.  NO ONE ELSE IS ALLOWED IN THE PRESS BOX during a game.

3. CLEAN UP ALL TRASH IN PRESS BOX before you leave.

4. CLOSE THE WINDOWS AND UNPLUG EQUIPMENT before you leave.
