• HAA has passed a revision to the Competitive (Travel) Team Policy with regards to 9U and 10U players.  Starting with the Spring 2018 SPYB Season, any 9U or 10U competitive (travel) team requesting field space rental at Hoover East will be required to have 100% of players on the team participating in the Spring recreational league season.
  • Competitive teams will practice together weekly on Wednesday nights and Sundays during the Spring season at no additional fee for field use.  Teams can utilize this time for scrimmage games against other travel teams or simply fielding practice.
  • Competitive teams will be formed through SPYB via a tryout to be held separately from the spring rec player evaluations, and players will be assessed by a third-party tryout committee comprised of three non-parent individuals, most likely HAA board members without a player in the age group.
  • This tryout committee will also determine the appropriate number of competitive teams to be formed and the appropriate number of players for each team based on their assessment of the talent level of the individual age group.
  • The tryout committee will then submit their assessment and recommendations for each competitive team to the Baseball Commissioner.
  • The head coach for each competitive team will be determined once the tryout committee submits their recommendations to the Baseball Commissioner.
  • Separate competitive teams will be formed for each age group.
  • There is a $20 non-refundable Competitive Team Tryout Fee due during rec registration.  No additional fees will be collected by HAA for 9U or 10U Competitive teams for practice space.
