On Sunday, December 15th, 2019, Scott Carver, a nearly 15 year Hoover Athletic Association Board member, attended his final official board meeting as an active member. Scott served in many roles over the years as a baseball league director, Baseball Commissioner, Board Vice-President, Board President, and Treasurer in his most recent role.
Scott and his family are permanently ingrained in every aspect of this park. He coached both of his sons, Jake (now in college) and Hudson (now in High School), in youth baseball and football from 4 years old until they were too old to play out here anymore. Scott's late-wife Debbie, is memorialized by a tree planted at one of the entrances to the park. And both he and his wife Betsy have financially sponsored numerous teams out at the park.
While serving as Board President, Scott shared his vision for, and ultimately was largely responsible for, bringing our Indoor Baseball Facility from dream to reality. So the other board members agreed that naming the facility after him was a fitting tribute to his many years of selfless service.
Every family that sets foot on the grounds of this park has been positively impacted, directly or indirectly, whether they realize it or not, by the dedication and devotion, ideas and inspiration, and selfless sacrifice of Scott Carver. And even though his time actively serving has now come to an end, his name and legacy will continue on for years to come.
Scott, thank you for all you have done for the kids and families served by our park and the Hoover Athletic Association. We are truly blessed to know you.
