2017 Southern League Championship Dedicated to Lucas Dunigan!
Both the Southern Angels (runner-ups) and the Southern Reds (champs) dedicated the Championship Game to Lucas Dunigan, a brave and very special 2nd grader at Rocky Ridge Elementary School and a very dear friend to many of our players. Lucas had bravely battled leukemia since Kindergarten and went to be with Jesus on the evening of the game.
To honor Lucas, both teams had "LD" written on the backs of their hands, and a moment of silence was held before the game. We ask that anyone reading this please pray for his mom Amy, dad Michael, and older brother Riley during this unimaginably difficult time.
Congratulations to the Southern League Reds for winning the 2017 SPYB Spring Southern League championship!
The Reds finished the regular season at the top of the standings with a 12-2 record, and they ran undefeated,4-0, through the Double Elimination Playoffs to clinch the Championship!
