Southern League is for 7-8 year olds. Batters will hit a pitched ball from their Coach Pitcher and will be given 5 pitches or 3 strikes to put the ball in play. Each inning will end when either 3 outs are made or 10 runs are scored. All players appear in the batter order with a continuous lineup in effect. Umpires are provided and score is kept in this league. There is also a competitive end-of-the-season tournament to determine a league champion. All-star teams will be selected from this league to compete in a Greater Birmingham Baseball Association (GBBA) sanctioned Post-Season Tournament, typically held at the beginning of June.
